LIFE’S COLORS

LIFE’S COLORS
Today’s mantra comes from Tony Robbins who said, “If you’re going to blame people for the bad, then you better blame them for the good too… cause life is not so simple and black and white.” It’s a thought that I consider in life because it’s important to see things from other people’s point of view. Most situations fall in grayscale. There are a lot of factors that affect different things.
While blaming someone is never the answer, I do think that people can be responsible for the good that comes in life. Bad things happen and good things come and go, but everything is better when there are people to share things with. If things are going badly, it helps to surround yourself with people who support and love you. If things are going well, it’s always happier to share these moments. Life isn’t black and white, and it’s more colorful when you have people to share it with.

CHANGE MEANS GROWTH

CHANGE MEANS GROWTH

With mercury recently being in retrograde and having a few days that felt a bit off, I remembered something I read that said that there could be no calm without chaos. Sometimes things have to be bad before they can be good.

The silver lining is that when bad things happen, there is change. When something goes wrong, you focus and learn how to make it right. Chaos can be a catalyst for change. This perspective has given me peace of mind when I feel like things are getting difficult or hard to manage. Change is good. Change means improvement, and change means growth. Next time you’re feeling like disaster has struck or something has gone wrong, know that something good is to come soon after.

CROSS THE LINE

CROSS THE LINE

I remember when I was younger and there would be people in movies that would always remind themselves to take deep breaths or breathe in and out. It used to be a funny concept to me – why did people need a reminder to breathe? Now, I see the value in it. Sometimes we need to learn to let go. We need to take the things that make us happy and make us grow and leave the things that upset us and keep us stagnant behind.

Breathing is an exercise. While it’s necessary to stay alive, it’s also necessary for the mind and spirit. Breathe in. Breathe out. Take in the good. Release the bad. If there’s anything that needs to be on your daily to do list, it’s make sure you breathe.

ONE MOMENT PLEASE

ONE MOMENT PLEASE

We live in a time where it’s very important to never stop learning. Learn about people and places and things. There’s a story behind everything, and life is about discovering these stories and understanding how they can connect to you. It is when we stop learning that we stop progressing and improving.

Learning shouldn’t be restricted to school and books. Learning comes in different shapes and forms from everything to trying new activities, making friends with strangers, and going out to places you’ve never been before. Teaching, sharing, and discussing is what makes us human – to understand what others are going through and to share our feelings are great ways to learn what you might not get the chance to experience. In a time when many voices are heard yet not many are understood, we need to learn empathy, patience, and compassion. Always stay hungry. Never stop learning.

SOMETIMES MORE IS MORE

SOMETIMES MORE IS MORE

More is more and less is less. And at this moment in time, I think we could all use more. More laughter. More happiness. More positivity. More freedom. More adventure. More communication. The way we treat ourselves and the way we treat each other is more important than anything else. If we don’t do good to ourselves and other people, we can’t bring goodness into the world.

This is why I encourage everyone to go and do what you’ve been hesitating to start. Begin the hobby you’ve been meaning to try. Attend the class that you’ve been waiting to go to. Invite the friend to dinner. Have another chocolate. Start writing your book. It is when we fill our minds with positive thoughts and actions that we can spread positivity to others. When we’re productive, we feel fulfilled. When we’re fulfilled, we share with our friends and family. When you build connections with friends and strangers, the bonds between each other help shape new ideas and ways of thinking. More creativity. More action. More good vibes. More life.

FOR THOSE WHO KNOW ME BEST…

FOR THOSE WHO KNOW ME BEST…

They used to say that it takes 21 days to create a new habit. I recently read somewhere that it actually takes 66 days to form a new habit. The daily repetition helps create new pathways in the brain, so the more you do something the easier it gets because the paths will trace over themselves.

While I’m always trying to improve and form new and better habits, it can be difficult to do things repeatedly, every day at the same time. But it’s fascinating to see how things that you practiced when you were young are still applicable into adulthood. My study habits from college are what bring me to create every day. I like to write things down. I like to keep everything organized so I know exactly where everything is. Keep in mind that forming new habits doesn’t mean you need to do something for a long chunk of time daily. Every little bit counts as long as you don’t stop. Which reminds me – it’s time to do my reading for the day.
